It is often said that oil makes your skin to break out and that we should avoid oil on our faces. It is not exactly true. We shouldn't avoid oils; we should avoid the WRONG type of oils.
Oils such as mineral oils and lanolin are comedogenic, but high-quality oils like camellia, macadamia, jojoba, are non-comedogenic and can help draw excess sebum from pores. Sebums are the oily secretions of the sebaceous glands that act as a lubricant for the hair, skin and provide some protection against bacteria. These high quality oils are also great emollients and can repair skin barrier function.
Botanical facial oils penetrate into the skin faster than a cream. The anti-inflammatory properties in camellia, mandarin and pumpkin seed soothe the skin and very high vitamins and antioxidants help prevent the formation of lines and wrinkles.
The presence of vitamin E and other antioxidants in oils such as olive oil, marula oil used as a moisturiser helps delay the appearance of wrinkle. In addition to neutralising some of the free radicals created from UV rays, the presence of natural essentials oil emanating a smell of natural scent of the earth can be very comforting.
